Apple CarPlay is a feature in new and some aftermarket car stereos that allows you to control and view certain iPhone or iPad-based applications, including mobile map navigation, through your dashboard's media system.
The vast majority of CarPlay integrations, even in today's newer cars, require you to connect your iOS device to the car using a Lightning cable, which activates an icon on the car's display. Once you've selected it, the rest is as simple as the iPhone menu. Wireless CarPlay has begun to appear in some BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz models with built-in Wi-Fi capability.
The stated goal of CarPlay is to make it safer for you to use your device while driving, so it shifts control to the car's display, which works best when it's a touchscreen, although cars with separate controls for operating the touchless display also support CarPlay.
CarPlay supports a growing list of apps, primarily streaming audio services such as Pandora, Slacker Radio and SiriusXM Radio, and the system is displayed on the dashboard with the familiar iOS icons and menu structure.
Unless you purchase an aftermarket stereo, the chances of adding CarPlay to your car are very, very slim.
However, it's different now. DINPEI specializes in the development and sales of car DVD players, car radios and car stereos, providing professional and efficient one-stop services from design, mold manufacturing, hardware, software, production to shipping. We are one of the few Apple CarPlay manufacturers and our aftermarket products include all kinds of car audio receivers, official Apple licensed Linux systems with CarPlay and Android Auto functions, etc. You can totally pick any CARPLAY you like to add to your car.
CarPlay may be optional or only available in upgraded media systems or higher trim levels. CarPlay itself doesn't use data, so if you're playing music stored on your iPhone, data usage should be negligible. However, if you're using a streaming audio or navigation app, it uses as much data as if the phone were in the cradle serving the same purpose and not connected to CarPlay.
Both CarPlay and Android Auto work well enough, but sometimes they can be glitchy and seem to vary depending on the car and phone involved. If both are running proven operating systems and firmware, it's usually very stable.
We're not quite sure how future phones will work with the earliest CarPlay-enabled vehicles. If processor demand increases, older models may not be able to meet the requirements. Let's hope Apple takes that into account.
In addition to APPLE CARPLAY, we also have ANDROID car audio for sale. Please click the button to contact us for more.
